Happy Holidays everyone ...

So I have a question, where can I find a good chart showing what fuzes were used with the different projectiles dealing with German 20-MM rounds?

Here is an example ...

I have a 20-MM fuze on this round ... the Fuze is the Z. 45, PD fuze, but what is the round? The fuze is in the TM 9-1985-3 stating is it similar to the A.Z. 1502. However it doesn't say what rounds it is used with.

The pictures I have of the Fuze and Round are from Aberdeen ...

I am trying to figure out the 20-MM family according to the board the round was attached to this was fired from the Solothurn Gun and was a H.E. With Tracer.

Thanks,

Joe

It is torpedo tailed 120gramm Highexplosive Tracer HE-T(SD) projectile for 2cm Flak.German name 2cm Sprenggranate Lspur W mit Zerleger.

W-marking(stamped in frame) tells it has self-destroying method(Wrmebertragung).If/When it misses its target and tracer element burns to end, there is small device on the end of tracer cavity which detonates the main charge inside projectile.

Joe, you can download the german documents "Munitionen fr 2cm FlugzeugAbwehrKanone 30 und 38" and "Handbuch der flugzeugbordwaffenmunition 1936-1945" (both available on the internet) that show most of the 2cm rounds used...

I added the 2 pages covering the 2cm sprenggranatpatrone L'spur W concerning your round (coming from "Munitionen fr 2cm FlugzeugAbwehrKanone 30 und 38")

You can also hit the library and use Munitions Lexicon Book 1 by Pawlas, or if you are looking for something in English start with Handbook of German Aircraft Ammunition, Project TS I-48, by Bross.

Hi Joe,
At least one of those books is in our downloads section,
Best Weasel.
