Hi i am doing up a WW1 German 77 shrapnel round i know the colour is blue/gray but what stencils would they have had on them could anybody help

Yes, I can remember i saw one, one day in a museum. But i'm sorry : I'm not sure about the colour (perharps grey.. like a little mouse) :tinysmile_shy_t:

As I undestand, "St." mean steel bullet. If there are lead bullets, I think there is no letters.
 
Perharps you're lucky : I foud this picture I took few years ago, at the Museum Verdun.

It's... Blue.

Some really useful information on this thread. With regard to Pascal's pic, 18th Jan, 2009, does anybody know what the white band signifies? I recall having seen another photo of a 77 similarly marked.
