German Ariel Mine Fuze(inert) 34B

Hi Chaps,

Here are a couple of shots of the 34B Fuze for the Ariel Mine.
Im sure this is the type featured in the `Danger UXB!` TV series in the episode called `17 seconds`.
I think there was a key that could be inserted to stop the fuze running to detonation hence the episode name `17 seconds`??
This one came with the original cap and wire to it.
Wire removed and all workings thoroughly oiled.
Can any of you boys please tell me more about this one?

best

Super info, thank you very much Steve.
This 34B i have is amongst my favourites now.
I see that the letters on the fuzes were not painted black or other?
Where they just stamped in and left unpainted or has any colouring worn off over time?

cheers

Here are some cracking pictures courtesy of our man Satan18.
I believe this is an Ariel Mine on display at a certain famous museum in London?
They show the mine and the various fuzes and what i assume are Hydrostatic devices?

cheers

Hi Paul
The examples i have , and have seen were all unpainted, the lettering being left unfilled

Fuzeman wrote "im planning to publish an article on BOCN next week"

I am looking forward to that. :tinysmile_grin_t:
Thanks in advance, regards DJH

In picture two of the mine fittings it clearly shows the Vzz(34)A fuze
Picture 3 shows the base of the UES-1 hrdrostatic arming clock which was started by a soluble plug
My picture 1 shows that same fitting and picture 2 shows the other side of that plate the hydrostatic clock above that is the clicker unit
