I got these images from the museum at Fort Lee and haven't been able to identify the item. I am not even sure if it is munitions related.

Any ideas?

This is all I have:

It is all one piece and measures approx. 16" long. I took 3 measurements from the bottom of the box to the ends of the projectile, and the largest part (since it was too heavy to lift from the box). It looks like the smallest end is maybe 7-7.5" dia., the center is about 9.5" dia., and the larger end is shy of 9" dia. Pictures attached.
