Hi, from this picture do you have a date for this bomb, im thinking its a early model and nothing was written about this fuse during the war, i have no records from the British and American papers, my papers start from AZ46,,,,,,, Dave

Hallo,
from where did you get the name AZ 36. In the description on the website you quote there is no mention of the number of the fuze. According to my lists there were electrical fuzes (35), (38) and (39) which was developed before the war as a VT fuze, but never introduced. From the picture it is clearly a mechanical fuze, so the name AZ would be right. I'll have a look in my literature and will get back to you when I find anything. The end numeral 6 in 36 is reserved for highly sensitive AZ's. For mechanical fuzes the end numerals 1 till 4 were reserved. So 36 looks a little bit strange and does not fit in this system.

Bellifortis.

Thank you.

The Tm9-1985-2 shows the same bomb without lateral fuze but the text describes another bomb with the fuze AZ46 (two parts fuze, lateral and tail).

Cheers

From the reference books I have it appears the AZ36 was used in the NC-50 and the AZ46 used in the NC-50 D and NC-50 D See

Cant find any further details about the AZ36 to date, will keep looking.

regards Kev

Found this in the D.(luft)4310 heft 2 Nebelbombe C50, sorry the copy is not to good. Intresting is the last picture on how to deal with it.

Hallo,
this fuze is interesting because none of us has ever seen it. I also never saw any documentation other than the one you showed to us. It may be possible, that this fuze is integral with the smoke bomb and not used seperately. There seem to be some extant models of the bomb still around, so someone should be able to take a foto of the fuze.
