Not many markings - just stencilled "l spr m" & "16" seem to be various combinations for the lettering but couldnt tie down to a particular piece of ordnance!

I saw one like this before ! It said WW1 German grenade box on the label ! but i wouldnt know if thats correct ?

Yes - interestingly enough it was with a WW1 Stick grenade box. They are longer and bigger (have same fittings, hinges, etc). I'm guessing that this one is for minenwerfer or something?

Dont think there was - its located in France, I just took some pictures. I dont recall seeing any other marking, stampings or stencelling other than in photo.

The "l spr m" seems to have a number of possible combinations...leichte....Sprengranate....minenwerfer....etc but I cant put any together to indicate a type of weapon.

The answers out there somewhere!!

Yep, like Pascal said: a box for 6 7,6cm leichtes Sprengminen Modell 16. The insert is missing.
