German ww2 M42 cap real or fake ?

Hi all I was given this cap by a friend who said that his grandad bought it back after ww2 (heard that a few times) I have tried to look into it my self but I can not find a label quite the same as this I know there are lots of fakes ,copies of these about so I was hoping someone on here might have knowledge of these any help would be appreciated regards wg
