Quite interesting labels. To me this rather looks like a parachute flare grenade.

Bonnex,

very interesting parachute flare grenade. We are still puzzling what it is.
The cardbord might be the package tube. It could be fired from a flare gun like Wurfkrper. It is no rifle grenade because of the primer cap.
What is the source of the picture - it is called HASAG 2 - probably there is an HASAG 1 and 3 pic too ??? Hasag was a factory that made and develope a lot of ammo stuff.

Thanks for your reply. I had hoped someone would look at it and say wow this must be the earliest HiLo pressure munition - but sadly nobody did. I know its wishful thinking on my part. Unfortunately I have not found the HEC reports that cover the German development of the HiLo system so I don't know whether or not 'grenades' were included in the work.

Bonnex, I agree with you, it's a Hi/Lo pressure
ammnuition; and I don't think the cardboard tube was a package, it would be the first time - for me - with the package in display. And also it has no opening to take the item from inside.

Sure it's not a rifle grenade, may be a illuminating grenade for AFV launching tubes? as an ancestor to Lyran mortar
