Hi

In "Small arms training Vol 2, Light automatic, grenade and small arms anti-aircraft", London, 1931, page 172 (p. 314 on the paper version) ( https://vickersmg.files.wordpress.com/2017/07/ii-31.pdf ) is described a smoke grenade looking like no. 63, but higher :

It is not refered to with a number in the book but only "Grenade, 2-inch, .303-inch Rifle, Smoke"

Does someone has a better knowledge of this grenade and could share its real name (if exists), pictures and drawings ?

Cheers,

S.

No. 56 Grenade. Hand or Rifle.

"Originally demanded in 1929 to replace the White Phosphorous No. 55 grenade. Filled HCE/Zinc, ignited by quickmatch prior to throwing or launch. 2000 ordered after trials in 1930 but design abandoned in 1933 when the two-inch discharger cup system was dropped in favour of a return to the 2.5" discharger cup. The grenade was redesigned and re-introduced in the larger size as the No. 63 Grenade."
