Grenade development WW1 1914

The year 1914 saw little grenade innovation and development, I think the main reason was that the Allies and Central Powers fully expected to be home with the war over by Christmas 1914!! Was that a major mistake!! When 1915 rolled around and no appearant end in sight, the development of hand and rifle grenades went into frenzy.......Dano
