Hi Mike the diameter is 35.5mm and the side of the knurling is 12mm. There were quite a few of them during the 70s when i was a kid on a range that fired mortars and grenades now disused. Thought they had something to do with a HE 81mm mortar round. Don't think they would be the Danish M23 grenade as the bits i found in the 70s at the time were freshly fired and think they were current ordnance during the 60s or 70s. Found this by a public path near the disused range, always wondered what it could be.
Chris. Yes , to big for a Danish ! I've seen that before but cannot for the life of me remember what it is . Let's hope someone with a better memory comes up with an ID . Mike.
I don't think its part of the 161 fuze, i have had a look at most of the British used motar bombs of that era and can't seem to relate anything, could be related to a grenade, unless its experimental.
I will have to look when I get home, but it looks like a cap for the ingniter cartridge off of a 2" mortar cartridge ( just checked the measurements, its too big to be from a 2" mortar round)
