Does any one know what the metal box is for ?

I picked these up today.

If somebody has a sight and needs a box for it get in touch.

The box marked "Reflector Gunsight" is just exactly that. This was this was the storage box that carried the early standard (Non gyro type) gunsight fitted to Spitfires, Hurricanes and Mosquitos. I cannot explain the blue colour though.... ( Naval perhaps?). My example is finished in plain wood.

I think the colour is a standard RCAF colour for the period, perhaps RAF boxes were unpainted ? Or just some were and some weren't ?
