Hi,
Can anyone help me with identifying the GFSP and SP4 marks on this casing. The casing measures 22cm and is 7.5cm across the top. What would have fired this casing?
Hi Hayden,
What you have there is a WW1 German 77mm case, made in June 1915 the St means its a strengthened case. Perhaps one of our other members can fill in the rest of the details for you.
There are quite a few threads about these rounds on the forum, if you search for "77mm" you will find lots of stuff.
Best regards Weasel.
Hi Weasel,
Thanks for your reply. Been looking around and I think the SP4 is an inspection mark and the GFSP is possibly (need to confirm) Georg Egestorff, Linden, Germany. One of his marks is GF.
