Help identifying an object?

I found it metal detecting earlier today in a common where the Army used to train. I haven't got a clue what it is (My knowledge of ordnance is pretty much zero :sad I guess it's the casing from some sort of practice Land Mine but knowing me I'll be completely wrong. Anyone on here know what it is?

I was well wrong with my guess lol
Hopefully I'll be able to get the rust and dirt off okay and add it to the rest of the stuff I've found metal detecting now I know what it is
