Hello Guys!
I purchased this 6 poudner recently and i think it is american. I know its a 6 pounder because i can just barely read 6 pdr on the bottom, but barely can distinguish the rest of the words as i think it was stamped too lightly while being produced. If i could have help telling where and when this was made, and what for, i would greatly appreciate it! there are no other markings besides those on the bottom that i can see. thanks!

It is a 6pr. Navy pattern (Hotchkiss with the American band) But with the absence of the
crimp groove and no inspectors marks on the band it is likely not U.S.N. issue.
Looks like a penetrating projectile with the hardened tip chipped. The date and maker are just too
faint to make out, but there are several culprits, Driggs Guns and Ammunition, American Ordnance Co.
and likely a few others. Made for export and likely circa 1900 sort of thing.
