Hello i was given this a couple of weeks back and its not really my thing!! I would like some help on ID and also I am thinking of selling it

It is a 3 pounder casing that has been cut down to be used as a saluting blank.

They are normally a bottle-necked case with 47mm inside diameter at the mouth, 14.8 inches long.
 
Ordnance sales are always whatever the market will bear. You never know, it's shiny so it might attract anyone. Put $25.00 or more on it, and don't go below $20.00. I'll let you convert to pounds.
