Help to Identify WW1 projectile

Can anyone identify this projectile converted to a lamp on eBay?
Appears to be WW1 era from the simplicity of the driveband and fuze.
Size can only be estimated by scale from the helmet, but I would suggest around 2.5-3" diameter.

Is it a German 77mm?

no, it's a french 75 mm HE shell for the Fieldgun Mle. 1897

Since the U.S. copied French designs, it also looks like it could be the U.S. standard HE projectile.
