Hello,
I'm lost with this one. Complete round (not cut), light grey, no painted markings.
The body is marked 81MM M301A1 (made by FYM 1956). Fuzed M84 (1957 FYM).
As far as I know A1 should have gas check bourrelet grooves.
This body is same as A2. So is it a late production of A1 ?
Found in France. I know french used this kind of shells in the 50s/60s.

Hi,

According to SIGFAB, FYM is either French "CIE DES ATELIERS ET FORGES DE LA LOIRE" or Italian "FRATELLI MARZOLLI"
As far as I know, no "FYM" in the US.
Does the projectile has rectangular studs just below the fuse ?

In INF 401/2 (Règlement sur l'armement de l'infanterie, 2ème partie, Titre VI, Munitions pour mortiers) from 1966, there is only a mention of the M301A1 as authorized US illuminating ammunition.

Cheers,

S.
