Hi all I picked up this projectile this weekend all the shop owner could say was that he was told it was German I can make out a date of 1888 it measures 110 mm diameter and is 180 mm total length the drive band is 12 mm it is also filled with pitch but had a soldered on head section like a shrapnel type shell any help as allways would be appreciated thanks

Hi all I have been searching to try and i.d this projectile I may have it ,I think it is British and a 30lb b.l shrapnel minus the top ,the 30lb is mentioned in the 1904 treatise and is 4.2 inches diameter which is perfect the only thing I can't find is the tracer ? Fitting at the back did they have tracers this early or is the back bolt not to hold a brass tracer tube ,does anyone have more info or pics of a British 30 lb b.l projectile thanks
