Help with Id please

Can anyone tell me what this mortar(hope it's a mortar) is, I cannot see any markings.

Measurment's are 11 in x 2 1/2 inches wide.

Its a German Grantenwerfer from the 1st World War.

Indeed it is WW1 German 16 Granatenwerfer. Beside making sure the head is empty you also need to check up back of tail for a propellent charge. Being a spigot mortar in the tail opening there was a shotgun type shell that propelled the projectile off of the spigot. Make sure that tail charge is gone also...Dano

AFAIK this round was also dropped from the airplanes as a bomb.
