help with Mk8 4.5" naval cart please

I've a few 4.5" carts kicking about, but this is my only Mk8 and I'm a little confused as it shows no signs of crimping what so ever. I'd originally thought it had been cut down a little at the top for some reason but I can't see any evidence of that and looking at others I cant see how it could have been. Is this case therefore one that wasn't crimped, or not fired, or what...?
