Hi,

Can anyone tell me more about these 2 Cannister rounds?

I guess the smaller one is a French 37x94mm.

The headstamp is "37-85 PDPs 1.18" along with a symbol of a flaming bomb. The nose of the projectile is stamped "M"

The slightly larger round has a neck diameter of 40mm and a case length of 100mm. This one has no markings on the case or the projectile.

I'd be very grateful for any information regarding nationality, manufacturer, weapon and date, particularly for the larger one.

Thanks in anticipation for any help.

Cheers,

Gary

the 37mm with the on the nose is French M1908. The 40mm is French M1879. Both rounds were used in fortification for flank defense and sweeping the ditches

Brilliant info - just what I needed!
Thanks a lot for the quick ID.
Cheers,
Gary
