Not just Paul. I had the pleasuire of handling one of these last year before it disappeared off to a collector in the USA.

I don't have any but they seem to be a simple egg shaped body drilled and tapped to take any number of percussion cap 'heads' as used on firearms of the period. They seem to take anything between a half a kilo and 1.5 kilos of black powder charge, depending on the size. The one photographed would probably take a half kilo of powder.
