This is one of the ships Churchill has sent to go through Bosphorus while pounding land based Turks, with no boots on the ground. He forgot that Turks had artillery too. This lead to "boots on the ground", countless dead Empire soldiers and and at least one great Australian film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LBpsMqNEV0

I'm looking forward to going down and seeing her - only down the road for me!

I might add the Mr Churchill didn't forget that they had artillery - they knew it was there, however battleships are designed to fight other battleships not emplaced fortifications. The Turks had a lot of nice German howitzers hidden beyond view that could rain fire down on the narrow dardanelles. At least the campaign had one of the most successful evacuations!

P.s Gallipoli with Mel Gibson is an OK film - David Jason in 'All the Kings men' is better I think :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

Post photos of HMS M33, if you go. Thanks for the Churchill correction, it was a showy oversimplification on my part, but Churchill did lose his Admiralty job over Gallipoli.
