Along the coastline in front of the former Japanese airfield at Kahili, Buin, South Bougainville are dotted a long line of pill boxes. Some concrete and others made of armour plate. Two of the concrete pill boxes that I saw were used as house foundations.
Shown also are a few photos inside one of the pill boxes.
At Kangu Point Jetty there are two huge Japanese naval guns. One of these has been skillfully used as a house foundation.
