Definately need more shelving mate! looking good,love to see the Claymore,if you get sick of it send it my way as I have a Chinese AK with bite marks from a claymore that was captured in August '69 at FSB Serle

Here is the Vietnam (well mostly Vietnam) end to my collection as she stands today. You may notice there is no Claymore set in the picture. That was discussed in an earlier thread where I think I got ripped off by a Gun Broker dealer..AArrgh. I you see a man wallking around with fresh stitches in his neck, he could be the culprit. That would be from me tearing off his head, s__tting in his neck, and sewing it back on. If this does not get resolved then I will probably never go for another Claymore as the pain of paying twice would be too much of a cross to bear (hell paying once nearly ripped me a new one)!! I really cannot complain with only two foul incidents in about 30 years of doing business. I love my BOCN buddies and you're all the best (David I will get you taken care of ASAP)..........Dano

Hi Dano, I hear that. About ten years back I got ripped off, by a high profiled Ebay seller, on two Kugals. Years latter I still don't have any kugals in my collection:banghead: One day I suspect I'll build a bridge and "get over it", likely to be another ten years though I think:motz:. Cheers

Fragman, it was about 10 years ago when I got ripped off on ebay for 130.00 for a really nice m1913 German Kugel. I absolutely refused to buy one for a few years, and as fate would have it I had a 1913 Kugel thrown in on a deal to sweeten the pot, and that is why there is a 1913 kugel in my collection today. When I bitched to Ebay, they said there was nothing to be done save banning the dealer from ever selling on ebay again. Boy was that good news. All in all I guess with about a 99.999999999999% success rate on ordnance dealings I should feel fortunate. I just hate getting ripped off...Dano

U.s. M67/m69
Quickly becomming one of my favorite grenades is the U.S. M67/M69 grenade. I wanted to take a pic of where they are now as I have a beautifully stenciled M67 and another M69 or two on the way in transit. In my mind it is a tossup between the baseball and the lemon as to which is my favorite Vietnam era grenade. The finish on the right M67 looks kind of "cacked" as the paint was not original and I stripped off the top layer in the hope of finding stenciling underneath. No such luck so it will be getting a fresh coat of OD soon..Picture on right is my first attempt at making pecan pie and is fresh out of oven. Pecan would be my 2nd favorite pie (he he).....Dano

I think M67's are my favorite US grenades. Hard to get over here. M69's are great too. I think you took a very brave leap into collecting Vietnam era grenades, and you seem to have pulled it off effortlesly.A fantastic and growing collection you have there.
Do you have any internal shots of that pie? I'm sitting here with a can of strongbow and a tin of anchovies eyeing up your pie

Here is Vietnam end of collection as of 1-11-11. Starting to get a little "meat" to it now and 4 or 5 pieces on the way. Keep in mind I am a low budget collector so some of the "better" pieces may never arrive (at least until I am satisfied with base collection). I think there is a lot of cool stuff available in all collecting catagories in the 100.00 and less price bracket. One thing I have found is that if a certain piece is available from more than a few sources, then patience will pay off as inevitable it will show up at a cheaper price. Right now I am working on acquiring a few Vietnam TNT cardboard containers, so basiclly I am after a little of this and a little of that but nothing specific. Again on waiting for better deals, I have a container coming that I passed on earlier for 110.00, waited and a similar container showed up for 50.00 so I jumped on that.....Dano

Here is the Vietnam collection as of 1-20-11. Getting there. You may notice two BDU28B's. The reason is that I ordered a second one for 3 reasons 1) I like 'em 2) They are cheap (20.00) 3) It comes from my supplier closed with the binding apparatus affixed. Well as fate would have it when I opened the package, curiousity got the better of me and I inadvertantly pulled the latch trigger and it popped open and liked to scare the hell out of me!
(had to change into a fresh pair of shorts) I want one for display that is closed and locked and I cannot get this one back closed although I have the parts. I guess at 20.00 i'll order another and be careful not to touch it! I have found some cool Vietnam stuff (at least cool to me in the 3.00 - 100.00 range, which will free up some scratch for a better purchase (practice V40 is my main want). As mentioned earlier I have traded off some of my WW1 ordnance to get some of this Vietnam stuff, but am still a WW1 collector and have kept a "respectable" collection of WW1 grenades/ordnance. WWII does not fascinate me in any form. Don't fret as I do run into some medium/nice WWII ordnance from time to time and will be happy to trade (bartering is collecting in its truest form in my opinion). Last time I was at Alamo Military Collectables in St. Louis Mo, Tom Knox, owner, and VERY knowlwdgable in Vietnam collectables/ordnance. He gave me nothing short of a "history lesson" and to my astonishment he bent my ear for 2 hours on dating clothing, knives, kit and such. Tom is not only a top notch dealer but an enthusiast in every aspect of the word. Hayes Otoupalik (google him) sells the Colt M16 plastic ammo bags very cheaply. He threw in my plastic ammo bag to hold the 25 flechettes I ordered from him. Hayes has been in the business for many years and just a pleasure to talk to on the phone. As to his pricing, some cheap, some right on, some high. Picture 2 is something that also came in my last order. It is Vietnam protective balm to guard against blistering gas.. Back to Tom Knox. I guess his #1 collecting is knives/bayonets and I bought the k-bar Mark 2 fighting knife (defo post WW11) and he acquired it from a Vietnam vet. Also got an M7 bayonet for the M16 rifle. He took the time to take me through the book showing provenance (Tom is a top notch man). I have him keeping his eyes open for Vietnam ordnance and hae has a box of Vietnam era shells for my inspection on next visit. Since I started collecting Vietnam too it has opened a whole new world to me, like starting over and thirsting for knowledge and I would be remiss if I did not mention V40 as he has been a great asset in my education. Mom's health is failing fast. When the unmentionable happens we are going to sell her place and get a farm house on ground with some "out buildings" so the WW1 trench should be making a comeback along with a "Namatorium" of sorts. I think most are aware of my budget constraints but am making best I can of the situation. If I could have my druthers my big large purchase would be the single shot breakdown M79 40mm grenade launcher!!! Dream on Dano. I have taken an extreme fascination with the RFX grenades (namely M21 RFX post 1950 pineapple and RFX practice M30/62 lemon.) Well for those of you who are still awake I bid you adieu!!! Dano
