I have half of a shell that I'd like to identify, please.

I'm thinking it might be a Czech 8 cm PL kanon vz. 37 shell, but I haven't been able to find any reference photos to confirm it.

I can't see anything in that photo except for some kind of imitation meter (from the police) .....
Did you read the claim about the 8cm PL vz.37 from coffee grounds after coffee? If you haven't cleaned it at all ... yes, you can't call it anything other than guessing from coffee grounds. And now to the essence of your problem:What values should you add here on the forum when you ask others for their precious time?Given that the shell is definitely not complete, focus on:- the distance of the rim from the bottom - that's one value- the width of the rim - another value.- the diameter of the bottom - another value. Also, whether the rear ogival is a radius or a cone - another value.A photo of the detail on the rim is also certainly important and will play a role in identification.

In general, it's about having a sample that you compare and looking for a match (complete or partial) with what you know and what you have dimensioned drawings for.And the question: What do you want to compare if it's not ready for comparison.Until you submit your work, don't expect work from others. It's not nice or optimistic, it's my opinion. You can ignore it if you don't find a piece of truth in it.
Try again and again and you will definitely find someone who can help you.
