ID friction primer

Hi Guys,

Happy new year!

I have a friction primer in my collection and would like to know what it was used for. I found a couple of these but have no clue for which type of weapon they were used...
See picture below of one of these things. On a German site, they call this a "zugzunder".

Any help is highly appreciated!
