ID Please poss 105mm

A friend sent me this that he had before EOD got their hands on. can anyone help ID it as I am not at home with books

This item had a red wax non explosive fill if that helps

If it was filled with Non explosive material why did the EOD get it??
Not everything needs to be destroyed.

they found that out after a couple of sticks of PE

It looks like a US M1 105mm, But about every nation has their own copy of it. But as far as the wax filler it could have been a practice round. It was fired and fuzed. The fax may have acted as a ballist or someone fired a training aid.
