Could the projectile on the right be a USN vulcan type it is 82.5mm long and is hollow from the base.

Did you compare it to a 20x110 HS round and check for the "exposed projectile length" - just to compare?

yes its shorter than wartime hispano but slightly longer than modern hispano
 
Looks more like the American Hispano type, Projectile M99 (TP) or the M58(HEI).
