Evening Mike, the picture does not give much away. I would suggest that the case is a 13.9mm (.55in) British Boys anti-tank rifle from WW2, length should be 99mm and the case should be belted. This weapon did use ammunition in a 5 round clip.

Sorry Vasco I thought it was German but after you post and a quick clean I can see it might be a Boys .55

What does (belted) mean in this case?

here is mine and one from wiki.

I have 10 in 2 clips .

belted means the base of the round is raised in a belt just above the extractor groove.

If you compare it with a 7.62 or 20mm oerlikon case you can see the difference. They do not have the belt.

Hi Mike,
your round is indeed a .55" Mk II AP(Armour piercing) boys manufactured by Kynoch Division of I.C.I,Birmingham in 1942....belted refers to the 'thick' band just above the extractor groove.

Tony
