Id This French Shellcase Please +Which type of Gun was it used in ???????

HI Could anyone please try to identify this Shellcase [I think it could be french] and could you please mention which type of gun would it have been used in
Also do the numerals 2.16 mean that the shell was manufactured in February 1916. Regards Pelican.

it is for the 37mm Hotchkiss revolving gun, the WW1 trnech gun and single shot quick firing naval guns. Comes with many types of projectiles, explosive, AP, cannister, incendiary, message, etc.Basic desgin used world wide in tanks, ships and planes. My main interest and item ofcollecting. It is Frencf and you are right about the date.
