Can someone ID this item please?

It was found in North East Italy and contained a liquid fill. I believe it may be Austro Hungarian, however i can't find it in any of my A/H reference material.

It has been measured at approximately 110mm diameter and 260mm long, although I didn't take the measurements myself, so there maybe some variation.

Cheers

Pete

Very interesting piece. I'm thinking rocket warhead, but the bolt through the center is puzzling. By the lack of pitting and rust damage, maybe more recent than WWI?

I think it's a trench mortar from WWI. We often find ord in excellent condition from WWI, depends on the soil and often the country of manufacture. Some of the Italian projectiles we've seen have lots of paint and clear markings after almost 100 years.
