The IBCC is on the southeatern outskirts of Lincoln and is relatively new, opened within the last ten years. Visitor write-ups have characterised it as somewhat soul-less but I still feel it is a worthwhile visit if you're out that way. You would need to allow a couple of hours. Some of the information there is accessible via interactive displays - press a button and listen to a recording. One exhibit is a map of Europe with, to one side, a rolling timeline and a decode of what the various coloured circles mean with regard to bombing operations by both sides throughout WW2. It is staggering to see the bombing effort that was made. Outside is a steel spire and around that are steel plates pierced with the names of those aircrew who died. A sign describes the layout of the plates, depending on which bomber group the men were members of.

Thank you for putting the 2nd photo with the cathedral. I was about to jump into my car and drive to Lincoln, Nebraska, when I realised it was Lincoln, UK :D
Here is an American museum, Mighty 8th Army Air Force museum, kind of related to the subject https://forum.cartridgecollectors.org/t/mighty-8th-army-air-force-museum-pooler-ga/14082
