Is this 303? dangerous?

Found on the banks of The Thames yesterday. The middle bit is more indented and has mud in it but didn't want to get the mud out until I asked you guys. Thanks

Not dangerous,it's a drill round used for practice.

It is a Drill Mark VI and dates from the 1920s. It is completely inert and was used to train troops in weapons functioning. The flutes (grooves) in the case are there to identify it as a drill round.

(You need a good book on .303 inch identification. Try the one by that chap Tony Edwards!)
