Italian 100/17 Field Howitzer

Recently found this in New Zealand.
First i've seen here in 15 years of collecting.
Italian cases are fairly uncommon in NZ.

I think it is supposed to be 132mm long.
Sadly this one is only 108mm long.
Cannot think of any legitimate reason for it to have been cut down

A desert bring back I suppose. When I lived in Aust there were quite a few Italian cases, mostly 20mm, in the scrapyards. Gleefully scooped up of course !!!!!

Yes very probably a desert souvenir... dated 1940.

Can anyone confirm that 132mm was the proper case length?

I also have Austrian 10cm M14 listed as 100x132R
And listing (plus example) of Czech 10cm vz14/19 ( 100x183R )
Any comments welcome

There is one for sale on Delcampe at the moment with a length of 133mm

Both specimens I have are 133mm lg.
