Can Somebody Please ID This (Old?) 40mm Projectile??

I recently acquired this common pointed projectile thinking it was a 37mm, but its not - it is 40mm. Only markings are P3 - MIN just forward of the driving band and a small monogram which looks like CA on the base plug/fuze. Calibre would seem to be 40mm, length is about 133mm. It looks like a smaller version of the US 57mm/6Pdr Hotchkiss. What is it? Any thoughts appreciated - thank you.
