Japanese fuze - What is it for etc ~

I'm out of my depth on this one -- Just don't see these around ~
60mm top to base of main threads, 30mm dia. It was sort of screwed
into the bottom of a ruined Japanese shell casing now an ash tray.

Using the resources here I found out that it is a No 88 used on it seems everything above 37mm.

You have the Type 88 Howitzer-Mortar Short Delay fuze with the weak spring (shown at B in last photo). 3 Showa 15 is March 1940.
It fits the 70mm, 120mm and 150mm Howitzers. The fuze on the right has the stronger spring for Tank and Gun use.
I was lucky to find many of these bought back from New Guinea for scrap metal around 1990?
