Wow, for those prices you could purchase the whole torpedo! (if you could find one) LOL
The diagram of the pistol is a classic Schwartzkopft circa 1903 using a shear washer rather than the earlier shear pin design - the inner cricle with the 4 x equally distance circumference holes, houses the shear washer shown in the top LHS cross sectioned diagram highlighting the saftey pin.
The Japanese were also purchasing Whitehead torpedo as well.

Japan was quite a substantial customer with Whitehead: 50 orders of 1202 torpedoes in total, between 1896 and 1914.
