This grenade is a Mills Grenade type, most probably a No 36, but could also have been a No 23 MkIII. the only difference was really the baseplug, this looks to be missing on your example. from the latter part of the 1st world war 1917-1918. 1st war filler plugs were commonly made from brass or steel, yours looks the steel type, WW2 filler plugs were made from zinc.
