K2 hstp'd 8mm Mauser

I've got a round of 8mm Mauser headstamped K2\42\II Z. My references state that K2 is Kynoch, Standish, UK. But it also says that K2 was only used 1943-1944. So what years was K2 in use?

I do not know what reference you are quoting, but K2, ICI Standish, produced its first complete cartridge, a .303 Ball Mark VII, in October 1940.

I have .303 rounds from K2 for every year from 1940 through to 1945. Your BESA round is also typical.

That needs updating along with a few other details. It is something I have been meaning to do for a long time, go through the British manufacturers and send them the corrections.
