K98 Stripper Clips

I got these 7.92mm stripper clips and I was wondering if anyone can id the country of manufacture?German or Yugo maybe? The code on the face of the clip is 3E 40

thank you very much. i know very little about stripper clips, whould these have been found in any boxes after 1940, or where there any specific manufacturers that used them? Am I correct to say that clips where re-used, and re-boxed?
