The eleventh of July 2024 I visited the ‘Koninklijk Museum van het Leger en de Krijgsgeschiedenis’ (Royal Museum of the Army and warfare history) in Brussels, Belgium with a good friend of mine, and it was absolutely worth the time and money.
They have a good restaurant in the airplanme hall where a good meal of Spagetti or macarone is served for the hungry traveller.
It has a large collection that will serve all branches of military interested; from medieval weaponry to contemporary stuff, unifroms, medals, tanks, airplanes, naval artifacts and collections linked to a certain time frame or subject.
There is one disadvantage… the museum is that big that if you want to see all you need at least a full day from opening (09.00) to closing time (17.00), and even than you should not linger. We arrived at 12.00 in the morning after being stuck in the mother of all traffic jams near Antwerp and upon leaving at 17.00 PM we missed out on the tracked vehicles and the technical collection. So, if you come from overseas it it wise to book a hotel in the vincinity of Brussels and take a full day.
Below some pictures I took at the museum….enjoy.
