Hello everyone I was wondering if one of you chaps could explain how the L series numbering system works as they seem to use the same designation for various items for example I was looking for a L35A1 smoke grenade this morning and it came up with a antitank mine and a simulator battle sounds aswell as the smoke pot. If anyone has a list of l series grenades I would appreciate it also if anyone has any L series grenades for sale please pm me cheers rob

Hi Rob,
easiest way to try and explain it is that the L number is only part of the designation for example: L35A1,GRENADE,SMOKE ect L35A1,SIMULATOR,BATTLE,SOUND,you are likely to find L35A1 assigned to a million and one items, including non ordnance items.

Paul the grenade on here has a very good grenade site with a section covering L series grenades....if you look for a post on BOCN by Paul he has a link attached to his site.

Hope this helps a bit
Tony

Hi,

Rick Landers' book "Grenade" (researched by Norman Bonney and Gary Oakley) has a very good explanation of the L series marking system and lots of good information on all British and Commonwealth grenades.

Cheers,

Gary
