andy i seem to remember assuming you are on about the suit sights,,that they needed a top cover that had the scope mounts fitted unlike the standard top cover that had no scope mounts fitted to it
the sightunit, infantry, trilux L2A2 4x magnification .range control settings 300 and 500 meters incorporating a erecting prism and telephoto lens.0.22 curie of tritium gas .needs a rifle top cover adapter and has been used on other weapons like recoiless rifles . hope some of this is useful to you .
Spotter is right.
The top cover (piece of pressed steel) was a speial piece with the scope mounts attached.
you could not take a standardSLR & mount this type of scope (or any other).
Personally I hated the scope & it made an already heavy & out of balance weapon more cumbersome.
Always opted for the L39 if I could!! can`t remeber the scope config - Bisley made comes to mind?
The L5A1 sight.the stem is treaded for about one third of its total length and the remainder is squared.width is from 1.52 mm to 1.65 mm with a self energising luminous line which is 6.35 mm.held inplace by a spring and retaining screw.theres also L5A2 which is wider and L5A3 thats v notched.all fit inplace of standard.
