An epic like very detailed historical work covering German occupation of France and de Gaulle's response to the ensuing events https://www.imdb.com/fr/title/tt28553375/. I learnt a lot, about St.Pierre e Miquelon affair, about Fernand Bonnier de La Chapelle, about The Battle of Bir Hakeim , about Admiral Jean Louis Xavier François Darlan etc etc. So basically I did not know squat about Petain's Vichy and what French did during IIWW. You WILL love North African battle scenes, that's my promise. In French and English.
Interesting that they talked about French overseas possesions and called it "French Empire" while there was no French Emperor since 1870.
Warning. It is 2hr 40min long, and.....it is ONLY the first part of the total work. The 2nd part, De Gaulle: Liberte, is also 2hr 40min long
