Listing Of US Ammunition Containers

I would like to attempt to start/maintain a list of US Ammuntion Containers. This is something we have done pretty successfully on 98k Mauser boards for research purposes. Board members can contribute to the list, and then the thread starter can add to the master list.

Hopefully what we end up with is a fairly complete list that might be useful for research and general info. I will start with the containers I have...I think making note of what is embossed on the metal ends, along with anything inkstamped on the side or if nothing, what was originally inside (if known), and dimensions would cover it. I figure we will list numerically by Container number....

I am open to suggestions, and of course open to additions....Lets see where this goes.

Sorry if I'm having a blonde moment but are you looking for SAA carboard box numbers as well?...I have a few,including some experimental,but not one has a M number?

I should have clarified...for now I am thinking just the tubular black cardboard/tar paper with metal end cap type packaging that the US Military packs individual rounds and grenades and such into. I will grab some pics also to show what I am talking about....

Have you had a chat with LcplCombat the moderator of all things Packagey..He has already set up an excellent system for British packaging here on site perhaps he can advise on how to put it on site,. as at the moment just my opinion it looks a bit random with no order

Wow, this is great stuff...I am at a show this weekend, I will try to get it organized tomorrow...I would usually do things like this in a database, so they can be sorted in any way (ie cont. number, munitions used for, etc..) so its kind of rigid in a format like this...but this could be a great resource...thanks for the input!
