Looking for British No.3 Mk.I Rod Grenade Photos

Hello there!
Just found this forum and I think is awesome. That's the history. I am doing a restoration work and I need photo from real grenades, so IF you have this grenade in your collection, I would love to see photos, in case you have them. Any help will be appreciated.:tinysmile_twink_t:

Wow, thanks. Never saw it painted that way, do you know IF they were painted that way or Paul painted it to preserve it? I guess I should be doing this question to the owner :tinysmile_tongue_t:

hi rebel.
the gren is the correct colors.
a lot of 1ww ordnance was painted ochre yellow and the red band indicated it was high explosive. it was also common practice to have another coloured band to indicate what sort of explosive was used.
a pink band was for Ammonal and a green one for Amatol or Baratol.
cheers, paul.

Did not know that. Most of the photos I saw were black & white. And the color ones were only a piece of rusted metal. Thanks for the info.:tinysmile_grin_t:

Paul, whats the story of the second one you have in your website? The one completely rusted.:hmmmm2:

Have another question. I noticed several construction differences in this model of grenade. Is there any book that just speaks about this model?

Wow! That's what I was talking about, thanks!

So, what about the different design of the vane? You will see them in the following photos. Even the frag body has a different pattern. Did you notice?

Last one has a groove at the vane that previous ones did not. I guess there were rush doing them at that time so standards/blueprints were a little bit scarce.

It's OK. And according to this, the frag body was originally made of brass? That would explain some things, but what about the rusted ones?
