Looking for technical information on British 4.5 inch naval shells

Pretty much as the title says :)

I bought a 4.5 inch naval shell casing (see attached photo) a little while ago, and I want to put a shell in it. However, I've drawn a blank in my search for technical drawings. Photos are all well and good, but I can't easily measure them in CAD software - ideally, I need a technical side view drawing. Any help much appreciated, as always

Cheers :)

Hi OJ, Iam wanting the same technical data for a British QF 4 Inch Shell (1956 Malta). May take a while to find, but I'm sure I have some details for a QF 4.5 Inch (not blueprints, but a drawing with lengths and diameters).
If any member can help, it would be much appreciated.

Anything is useful to me :) thanks

I can't easily measure
I have an HE projectile but...have you contacted the individuals making 3D printed projectiles? They would have exactly what you seek. I don't see why they would be stingy and not share cad info... I can measure and do a line drawing of mine if you draw a blank.

I've seen a couple people online who've done replica 3D printed 4.5 in shells, but they're either not accurate enough for what I'm trying to do (simplistic driving bands, inaccurate noses, etc), or they're not as likely to give me information because I also make and sell 3D printed shells. The shell you've got looks fantastic, if you could give me measurements for it I'd much appreciate it. I've already designed a No 221 Time-Delay fuze for it so I'm mainly concerned with the body and the driving band

OK then, I'll get measuring and send you a PM once I have this fleshed out.

Just saying, its funny when you have a complete case and projectile how unstable some can be ie top heavy, good idea to have a 3d copy for display on a case, as the heavy original can come crashing down causing other damage. Better to keep an original projectile on the floor on its own next to case with fitted 3d projectile for display.
