Looking for the weights of the 3.7" Tank Mortar, 3" Tank Howitzer, and 95mm Tank Howitzer cartridge cases

Hey guys,

I am trying to sort out some apparent weight discrepancies in the ammunition for the above mentioned guns. If anyone has solid info on the weights I ould much appreciate the info. Or if someone has a case they can weigh to within a couple of grams?

It would also be useful to know the weight of the No.1 Mk II (or similar) primer, either together with the case or separate.

Also, any Statements of Ammunition for the above rounds would be useful. I have some for the 3.7" Tank Mortar (HE, SMK/C, SMK/E) and for the 95mm (SMK/BE) but am coming up empty on the other rounds.

TIA :)

Hi,

3" Tank case - 839g
95mm Tank case - 1215g
95mm SP & INF case - 1075g (Only because the case was next to me)
3.7" Tank Mortar case - I might be able to get it.

All include an inerted primer.

Hey RichardB,

Thank you very much for the info.

May I ask for clarification on the source(s) of the weights - eg did you weigh them yourself, or was the information from a pamphlet, or from another person? And if you can get the weight of the 3.7" Tank Mortar case (without too much hassle :)) it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone has detail information on the No.1 Mk II (or similar) primer - ie all-up weight live and/or amount of filler, it would be appreciated.

TIA :)
Tom

I have 2 cases and some primer No1 Mk11 info. I hope the information is useful.

My 3" How 1 RLB 1943 case with fired No1 Mk11 primer weighs 846 grams. It has 4 mouth crimps.
My 95mm 1 RLB 1943 case with fired No1 Mk11 primer weighs 1216 grams. It has 4 mouth crimps.

I weighed 4x No1 Mk11 fired primers and they all weighed 82 grams.
The diagram shows the weights of the filler so add this weight to the fired primer.
